Looking for a fun wedding theme which the majority of your guests will be able to relate to?
You may be aware that over the last few weeks sport fever has been sweeping throughout the country – in the form of football at the World Cup in Russia, tennis at Wimbledon, and the Tour De France which began this week. For those brides and grooms who are ‘sports mad’ (and we know there’s a few of you out there!), we’ve collected some ways in which sports can be included on your wedding day, here at Ufton Weddings
Whether it’s subtle hints of football throughout the day, or whether you’ve decided to well and truly embrace the football theme, there are many different ideas to ‘score’ with the ‘fans’.
From the ‘kick-off’, you could make your wedding invites into football tickets, and have you thought about making the order of service into an ‘official programme’ for the day? Or maybe the wedding colours throughout the day resemble the kit of your favourite team? Either way, with the blank canvas of the barn at Ufton, there are so many ways to include a bit of football throughout your day!
Game, set, match!
Take this sport to your ‘advantage’ and go for an ‘ace’ tennis themed wedding. Subtle hints to the theme might include a lovely ‘first serve’ of Pimms and lemonade during your wedding drinks reception in our gorgeous walled garden, or maybe some strawberries and cream decorating your Victoria Sponge cake!
To truly embrace the theme, tennis racquets and tennis balls could feature throughout the day – whether that be in the form of frosted icing as a cake topper, or the real deal and using vintage tennis racquet as floral displays or as decorations. The exposed brick work in the barn courtyard truly will add to this vintage Tennis theme!
A bicycle made for two…
And with the Tour de France on at the moment, have you thought about having a cycling themed wedding? Vintage bicycles make for GREAT ‘Welcome signs’ or ‘thank you signs’ … or wedding transport, if you fancy a bit of a laugh trying to cycle down our gorgeous oak-lined drive in your wedding dress!
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a DIY bride, an old bicycle wheel is a versatile decoration – you could use it for your table plan, to hang photos of you both on, or even to drape with fairy lights for that magical glow in the evening.
