Stuck for unique ideas on how to theme your wedding?
As well as being the height of the wedding season, the summer months tend to be showered with lots of different festivals, so why not combine the two for a fantastic festival themed wedding day?
Festivals are all about music and entertainment, which you definitely want to include on your wedding day – so make sure that you hire an awesome DJ. For something a little different, an oom-pah band or mariarchi singer would make for some fantastic evening entertainment.
The location is also something to think about – think tepee tents, marquees or the such-like! At Ufton Weddings, these can be situated in the barn courtyard and are perfect for offering some extra shelter with the unpredictable British weather! Check out our recommended suppliers list for some fabulous marquees…
For a truly ‘festival’ themed wedding, have you thought about hiring deck chairs or hay bales (from our recommended supplier, Party Bales) – festival style seating is a must for your guests to relax and chill out on.
Set the tone for the day from the initial invites… creating shabby chic wedding invites are a fun gesture, and have you thought about giving each guest a lanyard or a ‘Wed-fest’ wristband to truly embrace the Festival theme? These can double up as favours too!
Another important element of both a festival and of a wedding is the food! Ice cream carts, prosecco vans, cook your own pizzas or paella are all fun ideas for your wedding breakfast – have a chat with our recommended caterers to see what they could offer.
Festival clothing and accessories could also be a fun element to be incorporated into your big day! Wildflowers such as gypsophlia create a gorgeous base for a flower crown, and adding some of the flowers from your bouquet will really tie the whole thing together.
You could even add a ‘pimp your hair’ station for those guests who want to be included in your wedding theme – a fun accessory and a great idea for a weekend DIY project … or could your bridesmaids help you to create some on your hen weekend?
Use wildflowers throughout the rest of the day, on your naked rustic cake or as table centrepieces. Have you thought about truly embracing the festival theme and using welly boots as the ‘vases’?
And lastly (but by no means least), let your imagination run wild with the décor for the day. The tithe barn at Ufton is a blank canvas so you truly can put your touch on the whole day. Festivals are all about bright and bold colours; bunting, streamers, ribbons, florals and rustic details all look great as wedding décor.
Top tip: be sure to make use of the whole site, including the trees in the orchard and the exposed brickwork in the courtyard.
And don’t forget about the evening celebrations! Lanterns, fairy lights or our flares lining the courtyard path add an additional magical touch. A sparkler exit is an absolute must for a festival inspired wedding day, glow sticks might be a fun idea for the younger guests!
Happy Wedding Planning!
