Paws for thought with Murphy
Welcome back pals,
As I walked from my house this morning, my tail was wagging with excitement that we had a Viking Explorer day happening at Ufton today!
Did you know that the Vikings were expert boat builders and sailors and were famous for sailing huge distances from their home in Scandinavia between AD800 and 1066 to raid and plunder?!
I quickly joined my pals by jumping aboard the Viking longship, to learn why they explored and traded.
We even had a little sing along: A Viking went to sea sea sea to see what he could see see see, but all that he could see see see, was the bottom of the deep blue sea sea sea
At the end of each song, my pals and I went BEZERK jumping screaming and cheering as a group of our men ran off to see which treasures they could capture. We sailed across the seas from Europe to Arabia, to North America and Ireland – phew all that travelling was making me hungry!
We stopped for some lunch – luckily it was sandwiches for my friends and a bowl of kibble for me as Vikings ate some really horrible things (anyone order a stewed seagull?!)
After lunch we got all our belongings together as it was ‘TIME TO RAID’! We transformed ourselves into a gang of vicious Vikings. We learnt that the Vikings were a nasty bunch who fought, plundered and pillaged. … I even had the chance to dress up with a shield and axe (pretend of course!)
I had such a great day and can’t wait to spend more time with my pals on the Viking longship.
In fact, I used to have a fear of boats, but that ship has sailed…
I look forward to welcoming you onboard, speak to you soon.
