Paws for thought with Murphy
As the weather turns colder, it’s the perfect excuse to get in the kitchen and make some delicious and warming food.
All schools who come on our Adventure programme have a night of ‘Bake Off’ where the children learn how to make a healthy meal for themselves and their friends.
We started off by learning where fruit and vegetables come from… and no, we don’t mean from the supermarket! At Ufton Adventure we have a polytunnel and raised beds which are lovingly cared for by one of our volunteers, Mike. In the summer months, my pals and I can collect produce such as beans, tomatoes, raspberries and potatoes. It is so exciting to be able to grow our own foods…
Do you know what the fastest vegetable is? The runner bean!
This week, however, we learnt how to make chicken fajitas!
We started off by chopping the onions and peppers. It looked very tricky, but my pals were fantastic. I wasn’t allowed to help with this one, as I was told I had two left paws!
Once we’d cut and seasoned the chicken, it was time to cook them in some hot oil in the pan. The smells coming from the kitchen cabin were absolutely delicious. We served this with cooked peppers and onions.
